Only 23 days to go till my very first half marathon! I’m excited, nervous, and really eager! As you know I’m partnering with my good friends over at Jamba Juice to not only help replenish and rehydrate through my training but also learn more about healthy eating and tips for my first half.

A few days ago I was able to sit down and chat with one of Jamba Juices nutritionist and longtime marathon runner Tara Gidus. This being my first half to run, it was incredibly helpful asking her questions and learning a few training and diet tips as the mileage increases over the next two weeks.

Have you tried the Cucumber Orange Cooler? This is one of my favorite Jamba juices and also one that Tara recommended for lighter training days and recovery runs. It’s super hydrating and includes special enzymes that help strengthen the body’s detox system.

I am also hooked on the Jamba Juice energy bowls! These are so yummy and the perfect snack size in between meals! I’ve used the energy bowls primarily as a post-workout boost after rehydrating with a juice. I am obsessed with the Fruit and Greek Yogurt Bowl. Think blend of whole fruit, fresh Greek yogurt, and topped with a sweet honey! Go try it!

Follow along with the rest of my training through my Instagram, happilygrey. If you have any tips for a first half-marathoner please send them my way! Have a great weekend guys!!

  1. When a beautiful, talented, stylish, chic and confident woman puts her mind into achieving something … Not just for the win, but as an empowerment, an encouragement to be the best of what she can . . . She can definitely conquer it!

My best wish to your very first marathon and many more achievements . . . Because you are that beautiful, talented, chic and confident woman! 🙂

  2. That is so exciting! You go girl! I’m not much of a runner, but I’ve considered challenging myself to participate in a half marathon. Maybe I’ll add it to my list of goals…

  3. I ran my first full marathon last year and had the best experience! I trained for about 2 1/2 months and tried my best to follow a schedule on mileage per week. My longest run was 18 miles and I ended up having a car wreck 2 weeks prior my race that banged my knees up. On race day, the excitement and atmosphere took me the first 20 miles without even feeling anything. The last 6 miles was definitely ran with straight heart and a positive mindset. I finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes.. Let the atmosphere take you while you pace yourself! You are going to do great! Lots of carbs and protein. I’m vegan and loved vega rehrydating and protein powders, plus the protein bars are tasty. I found them at whole foods. Also, I did my training in Nashville 🙂 Good luck and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me!

    PS: Love your style!

  4. pace yourself, take a gu halfway through, and you should be fine! the nashville half in april was my first a few years back, i’d recommend it as your next!
