Hey guys! Excited to share a little of my Bonnaroo experience today. I got to partner with FUJIFILM X Series, and venture around testing out new gear. It’s rare that I’m the one shooting—aside from what I share casually, day-to-day, but this was so cool and inspired me to learn more!

Bonnaroo is unlike any other festival. A much needed change of pace and possibly the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. Leon Bridges… Pearl Jam… Kurt Vile…Nathaniel Rateliff. All incredible music, incredible performances, incredible community.

FUJIFILM X Series helped me capture what’s hard to even put in words. Cameras can be intimidating, but the X-T10 felt comfortable. Four days and I’d exhausted the dials. It’s official: I’m in love with this easy-going body.  It looks no-frills, but paired with the XF16mm (wide angle) lens, it makes everyday shots look professional and dramatic. A friend of mine explained that this kind of lens exaggerates depth to mimic the human eye. Cool yeah?! I won’t pretend to have mastered a look just yet, but I am looking forward to growing and learning more about this guy.

For those of you looking for an on-the-go version, the X70 is the perfect point & shoot. It’s lightweight and fits in most of my bags – and even includes a flipable LCD screen for perfect selfies.

I get a lot of questions about my imagery, especially from those who have just started blogging. I guess my best advice would be…

1. Invest in a nice body + lens. Strong imagery is so valuable to your brand.

2. Take a class on Photoshop/Lightroom. I actually taught myself Photoshop from reading their book and also watching YouTube videos. Time-consuming? Yes, but learning how to edit will give you the ability to create a look for your brand. I still edit almost all my own images…professional and iPhone.

Have you guys used any Fujifilm cameras? Tips/tricks? I’m all ears. So excited to be perfecting a lifelong hobby. For those who haven’t, learn more about the X70 and X-T10 here! xx M

  1. I know your blog is called Happily Grey – but mustard yellow is totally your color! I like to think we have this in common 🙂

  2. I am planning on going to Bonnaroo next year with my boyfriend and his extended family. I love festivals and I’m so excited, especially because I’ve never been. Your beautiful photos have jumpstarted my anticipation and outfit inspiration (yes, a whole year in advance)! Thanks!

  3. These photos are beautiful and I can’t believe you took them with a point and shoot! I’ve been on the hunt for a camera that is easy to take around with me for events like this, that still guarantee good quality!

I’m going to look into these cameras – about Photoshop. I’ve also taught myself photoshop but I would love any suggestions you have about good YouTube channels or videos that are helpful!
