NYFW FW 19

NYFW is always a beautiful blur! The constant running around, wardrobe changes, show after show, dinners to events… It’s a week of madness but nonetheless it leaves me inspired. Was especially energized by this year’s trends..very unique! Purple purple purple, exaggerated ruffled necks, head to toe leather… Even a modern take on the cargo pant graced the runway of more than one designer. I left with lots of new styling ideas in mind… Refreshing!

I will admit, navigating NYFW this year with an ever-growing baby bump was both humorous and challenging. Fitting in designer samples, changing in cabs, walking around with unbuttoned pants…definitely put me to the test! I felt the most comfortable in long dresses. Two stand-out silhouettes being this Ulla Johnson and this Botega Veneta. However, cradling the bump in a Rachel Zoe sequin gown for Tom Ford felt pretty special… Mane Addicts created a sleek low bun and it was overall my favorite look of the week.

A show highlight for me this year was Ralph Lauren… RL held the most beautiful breakfast runway – fashion with croissants? I’m in. I loved the creativity and the change of scenery from a typical show. RL is always so classic. Tom Ford of course delivered some serious inspiration. He is a luxury legend and is now playing with the line of elegant minimalism, which I really love… ANDD last there was Zimmerman. Always a favorite but this season was another level. Beautiful, supple leather trenchcoats paired with berets and bouncy silhouettes mixed with bomber jackets and hooded anoraks.

I’m also impressed this season with the runway inclusivity. Body positivity is such an important message, and I appreciated that about the Brandon Maxwell show – He has created a brand that really embraces diversity and I think everyone is ready to see that more in this industry. Christian Siriano and Cushnie are also stand-outs in this category. The more and more designers that use their platform to spread messages like these, the more inclusive and transformative experiences like NYFW will become; I love seeing the evolution from season to season and I’m already excited to see the difference from Feb. to Sept.
