Self-Isolating? Here Are My Tips

Personal
Tuesday, March 17th, 2020

Hi hi hello. How are you guys??? The nurse in me is keeping calm while taking necessary actions – but it’s definitely unlike any other time I’ve seen or been a part of…and even my parents are echoing that. Wow.

Right now, my whole team and I are working from home and self-isolating. This morning, I made the hard decision to close the physical doors for our newly opened shop, Happily Grey. My heart goes out to all other retailers, and really every business that’s been affected…music, sales, restaurants – no one is exempt. We are in this together.

I’m staying encouraged with a heart of gratitude. I’ve always believed that having a heart of thanks gives me the perspective I need to keep going.

Here’s what my little family is doing to help pass the time. I hope this is helpful to you guys and this place can be a source of comfort over the next few weeks. And I can’t say this enough…stay home!! I really believe that taking the initiative here will help stop the spread.

xx,

M

GET READY EACH DAY

So…we’re now working from home and this doesn’t mean you can’t still get ready. I’m most productive when I throw on some makeup, put an outfit on and hit the ground running. It gives me energy and excitement for the day – and I make better work and food decisions etc. Save the sweats for 5pm.

STAY ACTIVE

Keep it movin’ people! Mad and I are holding each other accountable for daily workouts and walks with Navy. The fresh air is a game changer and really helps!! Also – don’t forget about virtual workouts – I’ve heard great things about Fiit and Plankk

I know lot’s of gyms are closed right now – but I’ve been doing at home workouts and runs outside – SO important to move. Running is a physical release for me. It clears my head and working out boosts your endorphins.

SELF-CARE

Normally an area that falls to the wayside, but now it’s priority! Everyone needs a little TLC. Face masks, a good book, and a glass of wine has become a much-needed nightly routine. I’ve been using the Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask and Skyn’s Brightening Face Mask. Sharing some of my other favs below.

PREVENTATIVE TIPS

At our house we have been making sure to sanitize all surfaces in the morning and at night before bed. We’ve also been sanitizing all packages as they come, unboxing outside and leaving the box outside to break it down so we’re not bringing anything that’s been exposed in the house. The virus can live on cardboard metal or plastic so be sure to wait 2 minutes after disinfecting so the bacteria is killed.

Also, don’t forget the hotspots – door knobs, remotes and our phones each day. Lysol is love 🙂

And lastly (and MOST IMPORTANTLY) we’re in for the count. Outside of a weekly Trader Joes run, Mad, Navy and I are hunkering down at home. We typically ship groceries to our house (we use amazon and Hello Fresh) and once a week will go to the store if we need anything else – but always sanitizing the cart!!
