MONO MODE

Head-to-toe tones are right up my alley. Whether it’s a power-red ensemble, or an all white combo, monochromatic mode is where I want to be. It’s a great way to give any neutral a bold edge.

Also called “color drenching” – which actually gets it’s name from the world of interior design, used to describe a room that’s been covered from top to bottom in varying shades of a hue – the ever-growing trend calls for tones of the same color in all its variations. If it sounds overwhelming at first, I have a few tips below to get you started!

Start by pairing two complimentary shades – like a maroon and pink or navy and light blue. As you get more comfortable with the idea of color drenching, you can begin to pair tones within the same hue.

Neutral shades can be an easier canvas as a starting point. Try playing with all black, all white or shades of cream. As you get more comfortable wearing these mono tone looks, begin playing with color.

I find it’s easiest to achieve a monochromatic look if you match color – NOT texture!

Break up your look by pairing a leather pant with a bulky sweater etc. This makes your tones POP rather than clash.

Sharing some of my favorite mono looks below – let me know what you think!
