WE FINISHED!!! The one room in our house where we just turn Navy loose – ha! This is where we now spend 90% of our time. Cozy, colorful, cheerful, intentional – I’m so happy :). It took longer than I planned we planned but worth it!!
The playroom was Scandinavian inspired – simple, minimalist, pops of color, and functional for our family. We started with a blank white slate…white walls, white floors, white counter tops. The most impactful way to change a room…WALLPAPER. I went with something bold and mod – but only on two accent walls so it didn’t feel overwhelming. Etsy has some GREAT options if you’r looking to change up your space. To balance out the color, I chose white tones and natural wood for the furniture, toys and accessories (all from Pottery Barn Kids and The Tot)!
I debated doing a really big sectional in the room, but ended up going with two massive fur bean bags from LoveSac – seriously THE COZIEST seating option and they add a great texture element. When I’m using a lot of the same color, adding in different textures for contrast is key to achieve a monochromatic look that feels intentional.
For finishing touches, we did Artifact Uprising floating frames. Adding your own pictures to a space helps it feel more personal and warm. We also did an art wall – all in orange and pink tones to play on the rust color of wallpaper, and ALL under $40 from Society6! Art completely elevates a space. I wanted the art wall to have a playful tone with an intentional message, so I chose was a mix of fun prints and witty quotes.
This space has become one of our favorite places to spend time as a family…warm, inviting, inspiring…meant to be little messy :).
